I have definite wardrobe favorites. Standbys that I wear on such a regular basis that someone today called this item my “trademark”. At first I was a little excited (Really? I’m known for this? Do people talk about it? Ooooh) and then a little perplexed (Do they think I wear them out of convenience? Do they really think they’re terrible or something?) and then finally OK with it.
What is this mystery item? The pashmina.
I have them in all my favorite colors- royal blue, lilac, pale pink, grey, navy blue, black, metallic print, brown… And I love to wear them. I wear it wrapped around my neck in a casual knot, around my shoulders, a formal scarf knot…I love them. I don’t just wear them in the winter either, they are a year round staple; I am a person who is cold 95% of the time- so I can wrap it around my shoulders anytime- from blizzard wintry days to air-conditioner chilled summer days.
The pashmina was a staple a few years ago and has kind of dropped off the radar. I guess this is what makes a good trademark item, no? Something t
hat you love even long after it’s no longer “de rigeur”. Apparently I’m not alone though, as Pashmina Princess tracks celebs who wear pashminas on a regular basis- like Rachel Bilson, at left in her yellow scarf.
If you’re even remotely interested in acquiring a pashmina scarf, check out my favorite source for scarves… ZenJen’s eBay shop. I’ve gotten many of my scarves from here, and they are all super soft, great quality and she’s a super fantastic eBay member to deal with. I highly recommend her- plus, once you buy something she puts you on this fabulous mailing list for whenever she’s having a sale or with any “imperfections”. All of the colors she stocks is on the right.
I’m still saving up for one phenomenal pure cashmere shawl/scarf/wrap, the kind that goes for upwards of $2000 sometimes. It’s quite alot to invest on

I am apologizing in advance to my regular readers who aren’t probably that interested in Vancouver Olympics 2010. This is my LAST Olympic post… I am all out of tickets.
Here are some of my pictures from inside Canada Hockey Place.
Absolutely incredible atmosphere. People spontaneously singing the national anthem and a literally a sea of red. The only “downer” of the event is all the seats you can see in the bottom picture- the CORPORATE seats. All empty because it was a prelim. This makes me quite upset, as there are all kinds of people who would have loved to be there, and who didn’t get the chance to buy tickets. OR, the corporate sponsors could have given the tickets to underprivileged kids around the area or given them to junior hockey teams to sell as fundraisers or something. Someone should have sat in them. But all in all, it was a fabulous afternoon.
